Our U11 Girls played in the Blast final against Slough on Saturday. What a game...
Bowling first, Constance struck early to remove the opener, Grace and Leandra also claimed wickets, while Avnoor delivered a superb wicket maiden. It was a committed fielding display that kept Boyne Hill firmly in the contest. The Hill restricted Slough to 123.
The chase, however, began disastrously. Three girls fell quickly, leaving the team a mountain to climb—but the Hill refused to give in.
Erin brought much-needed stability, while Lillie’s excellent running kept the scoreboard moving. Leandra contributed, Martha collected important singles and the girls fought for every possible run.
Boyne Hill constantly pressured the fielders, capitalising on misfields, byes and overthrows. Run by run, the target crept closer.
Holding it all together was Constance. She produced a magnificent innings, staying composed as wickets fell around her. When Lillie was eventually run out, Constance was the last batter standing.
She reached a brilliant 50—but the job was not finished.
Two runs were needed from the final ball.
Slough’s quickest bowler charged in…
No-ball—FOUR!
It was an extraordinary finish, sealing a thrilling victory and crowning Boyne Hill the U11 Girls Blast champions.
“I’m incredibly proud of all the girls who have contributed throughout the season and helped us reach this final. The section has come such a long way, and today reflects that journey", said Coach Mik Chahal. “Winning is fantastic, but seeing what this group has become and how they support one another means even more. This is something the whole section can be proud of.”
Well done girls and enjoy the trophy!
