The curtain-raiser for the U11 season saw Dan Leahy smash the last ball for 4 to win the game in a nailbiter at Ricketts Field.

The Hill elected to bowl first and did well early on with Josiah, Olly M and skipper Dylan the pick of the bowlers.

Some wides later on let Cookham get away, but brave catches from Josiah and Nirav, and an electric run out from Louis kept our hosts to 284.

In response each pair did their job, Nirav (18) and Hriyaan (13) dealing in massive boundaries.

The last pair came together needing 20 off their four overs and some fantastic running and a couple of boundaries kept the scores tight. With the pacer charging in from the boundary, the scores were tied. Dan need 1 to get us over the line, but he went even better, smashing a good ball through midwicket for 4, triggering wild celebrations from his team-mates.

A game played in great spirits, and a last ball win was the icing on the cake. Well done boys!!
