Boyne Hill Cricket Club was delighted to once again host the Windsor and Maidenhead Community Forum’s annual Multi-Faith Cricket Day — a brilliant celebration of cricket, food and community spirit.

The action began in the morning with two junior matches running side by side.

In the U11/U13 hardball game, Tegh’s Titans held their nerve to edge Milan’s Mavericks by just two runs in a thrilling 100-ball contest.

Alongside them, our younger players enjoyed a 12-over inclusive pairs match, bringing together U9 and U11 girls and boys, club players and newcomers alike. The cricket was followed by a longest-hit competition, with plenty of big swings, near misses and enthusiastic support from the boundary.

After the junior presentations — and some incredible food — the focus turned to the afternoon adult hardball match. Parents, club volunteers, WAMCF friends, junior players and members of the wider community all took to the field for a game played in exactly the right spirit: competitive enough to be fun, relaxed enough for everyone to enjoy.

That is what Multi-Faith Cricket Day is all about: people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences coming together, meeting new faces, sharing food and enjoying a day at the cricket.

We were also pleased to welcome Maidenhead MP Joshua Reynolds and Mayor Siân Martin, who helped present the awards and recognised the fantastic effort that goes into making the day happen.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, coached, scored, umpired, prepared food, organised the matches or simply came along to support. Events like this only work because so many people are willing to get involved.

Above all, it was another great reminder that cricket is at its best when it brings people together.
